Cornawhutta?

Our fruit haul from the farmer's market.
The husband and I went to the farmer's market today and picked up a bag of Florida oranges for just under two bucks. I'm excited to eat a few and then make marmalade or salad dressing with the rest. We also got green apples, leeks, vidalia onions, a jar of local honey and a jar of Amish spicy pickled okra for under $20.00! Oh, and of course a bag of boiled peanuts—a childhood favorite we share—because who can pass up fresh, warm, salty sweet peanuts with a Coke on a sunny Florida afternoon? Not this girl.

I really encourage you to shop at farmer's markets. Not only does it feel more like "doing something" than just running an errand because of the local charm, but it is cheap! The produce is fresh and local, and you are supporting a small business instead of a big box chain.

I like that it doesn't feel like I'm picking up a brand name product from a pristine stack of waxy looking fruit bearing stickers, but I'm buying a product almost as close to the source as you can get.

I put all of our goodies on a platter to hopefully encourage my husband to reach for something out of our bountiful countertop cornucopia rather than fruit flavored gummies.

In other news, I promise not to ever say bountiful cornucopia ever again. Really, I promise.
